How we handle report request data
CrimeMapsUK is designed to keep personal data handling simple and limited. This page explains what is stored for neighbourhood reports.
What we store
- Email address used to help you find previous requests.
- The original postcode and an anonymised postcode for display.
- Latitude and longitude derived from postcode geocoding.
- Report status, generated file path, and timestamps.
- A unique secure token used to open the report status and download pages.
What we use it for
The information is used only to generate the requested PDF report, let you reopen the request later, and deliver secure access to the file.
The service displays anonymised postcode values on status and listing pages to reduce unnecessary exposure.
Security approach
Report access pages require the secure token contained in the unique link issued for that report. Without that token, a report cannot be viewed or downloaded.
